Ian's comment on the way home from church today after the man preaching (our pastor was out of town) had the audacity to say that not every sermon can be or needs to be cross-centered or point the hearers back to the Gospel:
"Well, then it's not a sermon."Praise God, he gets it! As parents we may not do everything right in child rearing, but if are able, by God's grace, to instill our absolute undeniable dependence on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our need for it to permeate every area of our lives then I believe that we have succeeded.

What!? The guy really said that? Such a tragedy that this philosophy (is that what it is?) is permeating the Christian church world wide. I'm left with my mouth agape, at his lack of thought, and then word spoken. Really, really sad. Kudos to our ds. His insight is awe inspiring.
I agree, Annette, some folks in the more emergent church crowd say and think some pretty jaw dropping stuff. And the lack of discernment in the church as a whole is so sad. We've got to be so careful in this day and age who we listen to and read, there are so many ear ticklers and wolves in sheep's clothing. A matter for much prayer indeed.
