The Bookends of Summer

Traditionally, I think we all think of summer as the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I always have anyway. Well, those of you who have been around for a while may remember my Memorial Day tribute to my brother-in-law and my amazing sister on the other side of summer. To catch you up, he left the day before Labor Day for a summer military assignment in Colorado leaving his wife and two young boys for the third time in as many years. Thankfully, Kelsey and the boys were able to make the drive to Colorado to visit him once during the summer. I love this picture taken while they were at a Colorado Sky Sox game. Evan's face says it all in my opinion. That little boy adores his daddy!!

Zach got home from Colorado the first part of August and was able to spend the month enjoying summer and his family. Unfortunately, he leaves next week for yet another Middle East deployment. This will be the third time he has been over there since the very young couple were married not quite five years ago. They are anticipating a nine month leave, but as we all know, the military changes it's mind frequently. At least the Air Force is known for it's shorter than most deployments. Please be in prayer for Zach and Kelsey and their boys. They are based out of South Dakota, so it will be a long winter away from family for Kels and the kids. Since Evan is in pre-school, they won't be able to move home with my parents like they are accustomed to during these long deployments.

Thank you so much for your prayers for this family as they say goodbye to their daddy and husband this week and as they cope with his absense for the many months ahead.

Courtney, I will be praying for your precious sister, her husband and adorable boys. Please tell them "thank you" from one military family to another for their sacrifice. And, give your sister a big hug from me when you see her next.
