It's about stinking time!!!

I am beyond thrilled that our backwards state appears to FINALLY be getting with the program. It, unfortunately, took a near tragedy, but it's progress none the less. After being content with 25yr old laws, they are rewriting our child restraint laws. Hooray!! As it stands now, after age 3, kiddos don't have to be in any kind of child restraint at all. That's ridiculous in my opinion. I know many children that were barely 30lbs at that age. The new legislation would require car seats, whether 5-point harness or booster, to age EIGHT. That's fabulous! Finally, my kids will be on the cutting edge rather than the freaks among their peers. Here's more of the story.

Cool! Mitch and I had to take a car seat safety training course for our daycare licensure. We would love to have all of our kids in carseats (our oldest is 11.5 and under 100 lbs still), but 1) we can't afford it and 2) we don't have enough space in the vehicle. Well, after baby #7 arrives, we won't have space in the vehicle anyways. :) For now, our oldest two (11.5 and almost 10) are not in carseats and all the others are. At least complying with the new law will be easy for us. And if the state passes this, then hopefully insurance companies in our state will step up to the plate and help parents purchase needed carseats.
